Original Run: February 14, 1997 to February 15, 1998

Kenta Date, a young high-school student, is the champion of an arcade video-game known as "Megaranger". When he becomes champion of the game, a company known as INET invites him to their laboratories along with his school friends and members of the Cybernetics club, Miku, Kouchiro, Chisato, and Shun. However, soon after a small tour of the INET HQ, the building comes under attack by the evil Neijireija, an evil dimensional force lead by Dr. Hinera, with plans of conquering this reality. Dr. Kubota, INET's chief, then reveals the truth to Kenta and friends: Megaranger was not a videogame, but actually a combat simulator that had been made to find the recruits to become a super fighting team to strike against the Neijirejia!

While the INET HQ is ravaged and Neijirejia warrior Yugande begins destroying the base, Kubota gives Kenta and his friends special devices known as 'Digitizers'. By entering the key-code "3-3-5" and shouting "Install, Megaranger!", Kenta, Miku, Shun, Kouchiro and Chisato become the fighting team known as Denji Sentai: Megaranger. After a brief fight against Yugande, the Megarangers are forced to retreat from the exploding INET HQ, taking off within the Galaxy Mega. Later, the evil Guirail, sent by Javious, injures Yugande in a battle with Megarangers. Dr. Hinera poisons Guirail, turning him into Mad Guirail. The Megarangers abandon the damaged Galaxy Mega and fly the Delta Mega to the INET Moonbase where INET member Yuusaku has created the Space Mega Project.

The Rangers destroy Guirail with Mega Voyager, a new mecha made up of 5 different transforming/combing vehicles. Soon, Yuusaku becomes Megasilver, but at first can only fight for 2.5 minutes, although eventually he conquers time limit. Dr. Hinera then creates the evil Nejirangers, secretly draining energy from Javious the First after both Nejirangers' and Javious's destruction. Later, Dr. Hinera creates Nejirejia City. The Nejirangers are later resurrected but turned into data cards. Dr. Hinera learns the MegaRangers' identities, and Shiborena accesses INET database and locates the moonbase. Yugande gains a new, more powerful, red form with special circuit, and attacks the moonbase, forcing the main five Megarangers to flee, Yuusaku stays at the moonbase and appears to be crushed by rubble and killed in.

Dr. Hinera turns into a monster form, and the Death Nejiro base transforms into Gran Nejireosu. Hinera self-destructs Gran Nejireosu, destroying Mega Voyager high above the city. However, in the end, the Megaranger defeat Hinera, and celebrate their High School graduation with Yuusaku, who amazingly survived, present.
